TEDMED_2014_thank you_v2fltTEDMED_2014_thank you_2fltTEDMED_2014_thank you_3fltHow to write a post that celebrates success without sounding overly boastful? I’m going to give it a shot. Think of this as a group hug.
The TCondon team, TEDMED folks, and many collaborators went above and beyond to create an amazing TEDMED experience on both coasts last week. The shots you see here attest to that. We got a lot of great feedback, and, yes, we are proud of all of this hard work playing out so well. We really had a blast on this and we were glad to be a part of something wonderful.
I want to specifically acknowledge a handful of the many contributors to this event’s success. Big thanks to Design Foundry, C to C Events, Steelcase, Alexander Isley Inc., SLN Communications, Tony Cisek Scenic Design, and the great and mighty Shirley Bergin of TEDMED.
I thought it was worth sharing a behind-the-scenes time-lapse video of the stage build in San Francisco. This link takes you there. Check it out!
I will also be sharing some thoughts and insights from this event in future posts. Please stay tuned!

Check out the link below. I collaborated with some other conference experts and this white paper from The National Conference Center is the result. The paper examines the trends and future-state of innovative conferences. I shared my insights about the connectivity and experiential aspects one finds at the most successful conferences. I truly believe the most moving conference moments occur when people interact and share experiences; the learning and growing beyond simply absorbing a presenter’s subject matter. I approach the design of an environment to encourage rewarding interactions. While the challenge continues to be to create fresh solutions while considering the parameters of the conference and the space, our drive for innovative conference design continues. We are currently at work on three 2012 conferences that we are sure will be benchmarks for future success.

Why Certain Conference Innovators are Winning.

Best of Show – Large Booth award was given to Guardian at the GlassBuild America show in Atlanta. We are delighted that our booth was so well received. We utilized vibrant colors contrasting against clean white surfaces to showcase an amazing variety of glass solutions. Our floor plan design created conversation areas where visitors could learn about the functionality, patterns and intelligent solutions that make Guardian great.

The comments by Truran are the best reward to the many hours spent creating TEDActive in Palm Springs. Pulling from favorite settings of the past and blending in new ideas created a space to love.

Steve McCollom, IIDA, Vice President said it best “The Approach by the Nurture design team was authentic, evidence based design. The designers went to great degrees to create spaces that truly simulate what a user would experience – it feels like a healthcare environment, not a showroom, quite simply, celebrates the integrity of the product and what it does. It works.”
